NFVH-Marco Island festival

For much of the country March means waiting out the last of the cold weather until spring finally comes. For those of us who are a little more impatient, March means the perfect time for a coastal Florida vacation. There’s no better way to celebrate – and make your friends jealous – than a trip to Naples for the Marco Island Seafood and Music Festival.

On Friday March 28th and Saturday March 29th you can experience the bounty of the ocean with fresh offerings you just can’t experience in the landlocked states. Grouper, crab cakes, stone crab, shrimp, crawdads, and chowder are just some of the delights that are sure to please your winter-worn appetite. If you’re more of a land-lubber when it comes to cuisine, don’t fret – there will be plenty of traditional offerings as well. Lest we forget, ample beer and wine will be there to wet your whistle.

You’ll need your whistle (and whoops) ready as you enjoy the unbelievable variety of music. Opening night will start you up right with Satisfaction – a Rolling Stones Experience. Even Mick and Keith won’t be able to keep their toes from tapping with this authentic rock n roll show.

Saturday will feature such diverse and entertaining acts as Deb and the Dynamics, Hot Damn, Jim Long, and headliners, The Fakatatchee Band. Don’t forget to wear your best country-western gear that night, as contests for the best hat, boots, and more will let your inner “yeehaw” run wild.

If you’re looking to keep it a little more laid-back and family-oriented, there are plenty of offerings for you as well. Over 60 arts and crafts vendors will showcase their talent, allowing you plenty of opportunity to browse for the perfect souvenirs from local purveyors. Perhaps you can even find a trinket to appease all your jealous friends and coworkers.

A kid’s zone with bounce house, rock climbing wall, slide, trampoline and more will get the little ones in on the action. Who knows – it may even help them run off enough energy to let Mom and Dad enjoy some dancing and drinks.

What began six years ago as a hometown affair has grown to become the signature event of the area. This year promises to be the best yet, letting visitors from all over the country experience the friendly fun that Naples and Marco Island have to offer. It’s the perfect opportunity to get away from it all. We’re certain that by the end of the weekend their hospitality will have you feeling like a local.
