The Naples Preserve is a protected “green space” showcasing natural flora and fauna nestled in the heart of the city. Established in February 2000 with the passing of a nine million dollar bond referendum, this nine and a half acre scrub oak ecological community was scheduled for development until it was saved by the dedicated citizens of Naples. Inspired to support this urban forest, volunteers spent hundreds of hours clearing the preserve of invasive foreign plants and waste. Today, the area is a beautiful example of the native ecology of the Paradise Coast.
A trip to the Naples Preserve is a great activity for nature enthusiasts as well as those seeking a beautiful way to spend a few hours in the city.
