Nature Lover’s Paradise

Nature Lover’s Paradise Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is a delightful place to visit when on vacation in Naples FL.   The 2.25 mile or 1 mile long boardwalk through 6 different habitat settings is a gentle, pristine nature walk that will treat you and connect you to all of the sights and sounds that nature has to offer.

Guests who have stay in one of our beach houses will enjoy the six different habitats at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary.  They include:

1. Pine Flatwoods – Southern Slash Pine, Cabbage Palm, Saw Palmetto, wild flowers

2. Wet Prairie – marsh, grasses, sedges, reeds

3. Pond Cypress – two habitats meet to blend the wet prairie and cypress forest plants

4. Bald Cypress Forest – 600 year old, 130 foot Bald Cypress trees

5. Central Marsh – sawgrass, pickerel weed, cattails, bulrush, peat

6. Lettuce Lakes – treeless sloughs, floating vegetation like water lettuce

This is a beautiful and peaceful walk with shelters and rest stops along the walk so you can soak in your surroundings and sit and listen to the birds and bull frogs sing in melody.  There are photo tour cards along the way to educate and guide you on the different plant and animal wildlife that you can see.  Before you start out, you may want to stop by the nature shop and buy some binoculars and a field guild to enhance your journey into pure nature.
