The Baker Museum

WELCOME TO THE BAKER MUSEUM

Naples has a very large artist’s community. When you come to Naples, or if you have been to Naples, you can understand why. With our gorgeous beaches, unique wildlife and the fact that we are located within the Western Everglades, it is not a surprise why any artist wouldn’t be inspired, or wouldn’t want to call Naples home!

LOCATED NORTH OF DOWNTOWN NAPLES

ABOUT THE BAKER MUSEUM

Naples Philharmonic Orchestra

In addition to being an artists’ community, Naples is also a major hub for the arts in Southwest Florida. With major performance groups like the Naples Players and the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, and major performance venues like The Artis and the Gulf Shore Playhouse. However, for years, Naples didn’t have its own fine arts museum.

Then fifteen years ago, Naples finally got its first, and currently only, fine arts museum. This museum was called The Baker Museum, founded and housed on the property of the Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts, now known as The Artis.

Why You Should Go

So, as a tourist, why should you even consider visiting The Baker Museum? Even though it is a small museum, it features a unique permanent collection of 20th and 21st century art. This includes a collection of art by Mexican artists like Diego Rivera, an original sketch for an art fan by Pablo Picasso, and paintings by American cubists and surrealists.

Rotating Temporary Exhibits

Additionally, there is always a temporary exhibit, featuring photography and other art pieces by artists from all art periods and from around the world.

The tour through the museum is self-guided, however, if you would prefer a guided tour, they start every day the museum is open at 2 pm from the museum’s lobby. For more information, please visit their website at www.artisnaples.org/baker-museum.
