Top 10 Reasons to Visit Naples in the Winter

Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park

While most of the United States is in the clenches of a frigid winter, it’s nice to know there’s places to escape to where the breeze is warm and relaxing.
Adventure Awaits
In no time at all after reaching Naples, you’ll head off to white sandy beaches, warm waters, and outdoor adventures like fishing, boating, hunting, surfing and golfing, just to name a few.
Best Times to Visit
The best times to visit Naples is November through March. The winter and spring seasons provide the pleasant weather Florida vacationers seek without the high heat and heavy rains that accompany the summer months. Most visitors come to Naples when the weather’s at it best; which happens to be when it’s at its worst everywhere else.
While the rest of your neighbors are dealing with blustery winter conditions and shoveling snow, you could be going to the beach, playing golf, or enjoying one of the many other outdoor activities. Our mild winter weather has been offering travelers an opportunity to escape winter for over 100 years.

1. No Snow

That is right! It doesn’t snow in Naples, ever, so you can enjoy the outdoors all year long, even during the winter time. This is one of many winter things we don’t experience down south.

2. Warm Temperatures

Even though it does get colder in Naples during the winter, it doesn’t change that much from the spring and summer months. For example, during the spring and summer months, the temperatures are between 80 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
During the winter months, the temperatures are between 50 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Normally, the temperature during the winter time stays between 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. It rarely drops below or above these temperatures, which means you don’t have to take all of your long coats, sweaters, scarves, hats and mittens with you to Naples during your visit!

3. Sunny All Year

Naples rarely sees dreary days during the winter. So, next to the fact that you won’t see snow nor have temperatures below 60 or 50 degrees Fahrenheit, you have more time to spend at the beach, on the golf course, playing tennis, kayaking, canoeing, fishing and boating that you wouldn’t have if you stayed back home!
If you love to do outdoor activities, but hate waiting until May to do these activities for merely four months, then come to Naples!

4. Experience Naples

Naples and its surrounding area has an economy reliant on tourism. Our high season starts in October and ends around May, while our slow season lasts from June till September. Even though the area is starting to get a steady flow of guests from all over the world during the slow season, many businesses still close or have limited services during the summer.
During the winter, you have more of a chance of experiencing what Naples has to offer, in regards to dining establishments, touring companies and related touring services that you wouldn’t be able to do during the summer here.

5. Outdoor Activities

Florida has in reality, two seasons. One is the wet season and the other is the dry season. The wet season lasts during the spring/summer months, starting in April and ending around November. Our dry season starts in November, and lasts until March. The wet season is characterized by long, rainy days. This is good for the environment, and necessary for the health and wellbeing of the Florida Everglades, but it isn’t such great weather for visitors who want to see the Everglades or do outdoor activities.
The best time to come to Florida for the adventure traveler, who loves outdoor activities and the idea of seeing the Florida Everglades, come during the winter. It won’t be as rainy, or as wet, and you’ll be able to see more wildlife than you would during the summer months actually.

6. Florida Birding Season

For the traveler who loves to bird watch, this is the time to come to Florida. Many birds come from all over the world to Florida as part of their migration pattern and Naples is one of those locations.
Among the birds you will see are rosette spoonbills, wood storks, ibis and occasionally flamingos. They start to come around the beginning of the high season, around October, and leave around May, but this of course, depends on when the birds traditionally migrate to their next destination, or choose to return home.

7. Event Season

Naples schedules most of its festivals and special events during the winter months because it expects to see more visitors.
These festivals include Art in the Park, The Naples Grape Escape and Craft Beer Festival, The Naples International Film Festival, Baconfest, the Christmas tree lighting ceremonies at Fifth Avenue South, Third Street South, Waterside Shops, and the Mercato, and the annual Greek Festival.
Other festivals in the surrounding area include Everglades City’s Seafood Festival, and Fort Myer’s Sand Sculpting Festival.

8. Theater Season

If you’re an avid theater goer, you’ll love to hear that all the performance arts centers in Naples are in the midst of their seasons during the winter months.
These performance halls include The Artis, Naples Opera, the Naples Players and the Gulfshore Players. You will have the chance to not only see local performance groups put on shows and concerts, but also to see major performance groups from around the world, band famous performers like Itzak Pearlman and Renee Fleming.

9. Beach Time

Naples is one of the few places where you can go to the beach during the winter months. This is because the weather is warm, always sunny, comparable to the spring, summer or early fall of most Northern locations in the United States, or in countries located north of the equator.
So, feel free to come to Naples, work on that suntan of yours at one of the many pristine, top notch beaches here and take a swim in the Gulf of Mexico.

10. Boating and Fishing

Winter time is the best time to go out boating in the waters surrounding Naples. You don’t have to worry about rain, rough seas, nor the chance of a hurricane.
You can either rent a boat, charter a boat, or have your boat sent down to Naples to enjoy the nice weather! If traditional boating isn’t your thing, you can always kayak, canoe, or use a paddle board along the coast!
Come to either fish or enjoy the local natural splendor! It is up to you!
